1001 DIGITAL STORIES

The core of Shahrazad is stories. The overall purpose of the project is to bring original and challenging stories to Europe from all over the world – and to help new stories come to life. Digital storytelling is a central tool for Shahrazad in this strives, because of its effective way of combining personal narration with new technology.
During the five-year project period of Shahrazad, 1001 digital stories will be made all around Europe.

Dear Mother,

 

It is a long time since I talked to you, now that your ageing ears can hardly hear the faint voice on this side of the telephone. But then, I sometimes wonder at the futility of writing this letter to you since you can't even read. Your eyes too are giving up, and you did not go to the mission school to learn the tricks of the written word.

You have to be quite strong,

To go all the way along.

There were stories in his mind; deep in the recesses of his brain were wonderful stories looking for an escape valve. All his life he had wanted to write them down - these stories that aroused such trepidation in his heart, stories that came and went flitting across his mind like multi-colored butterflies, always beautiful, always out of reach.
