Asieh Amini on Swedish TV

Iranian journalist and human rights activist, Asieh Amini, recently did an interview with Swedish TV channel Kanal Global's Miniatyr programme. During her visit, which was in collaboration with Riksteaterns project Voices of Change, the author and journalist talked about her fight against death penalty in Iran.

New release from Chenjerai Hove

In collaboration with Catalan PEN, Shahrazad has published a book containing three texts by Zimbabwean author Chenjerai Hove. The texts are available in Spanish, French, Catalan and English, and illustrate Hove’s insight, humour, love and nostalgia for his homeland.

Story of ICORN caught on camera

A short film presenting ICORN, the International Cities of Refuge Network, is now available on YouTube. Directed by French filmmaker Marion Stalens and produced by Bellota Films, the seven-minutes clip explains how ICORN came about, portraits some of ICORN's Guest Writers, and sees ICORN staff explain some of the major challenges ahead.

Iranian cartoonists receive international prize from Kofi Annan

Four Iranian cartoonists were handed the first International Editorial Cartoon Prize by Honorary President of Cartooning for Peace, Kofi Annan, in May this year. Firoozeh Mozaffari, Hassan Karimzadeh, Mana Neyestani and Kianoush Ramezani represent a new generation of talented artists, and were honoured for their contribution and commitment to freedom and tolerance. The award ceremony took place in Geneva, Switzerland.

Korkmazov meets with translation students

Boris Korkmazov, ICORN Guest Writer in Brussels, has this spring visited universities to meet with students of Russian translation. Yesterday the Russian author held a seminar at the Hogeschool Gent to a number of students keen to hear his stories about Russian language and culture.

Author Chenjerai Hove in Vilnius

In collaboration with Shahrazad, award-winning writer and poet Chenjerai Hove will appear at the Afrikos Dienos festival in Vilnius, Lithuania this week. The former Guest Writer of Stavanger will present his own work and talk about African literature during two sessions on 16th and 17th May.
