ICORN assembled

Poetry and music launched ICORN’s third General Assembly in May. Held in Stavanger – European City of Culture 2008 and home to ICORN headquarters – the two-day assembly introduced the new Council of Writers and Experts and the Shahrazad-Stories for Life project.
The agenda was wide-ranging, from ICORN’s administration and funding to visa procedures and publishing possibilities. Members were introduced to their newly established Council of Writers and Experts and the Shahrazad, Stories for Life project.
Both current and potential partners were represented at the Assembly, including International PEN http://www.internationalpen.org.uk and the European Council for Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) http://www.ecre.org/. And a host of guest writers living in ICORN cities were able to meet together both informally and formally in separate sessions.
In terms of organisational development and the bringing together of more and more proponents of free speech, the third General Assembly was another important milestone in the young but increasingly sturdy life of ICORN.
