International House of Literature Passa Porta is celebrating its 5th birthday. On this special occasion, we open the new season on the 25th of September at 8 p.m. with a Passa Porta Lecture. From now on, this will be an annual tradition: a prominent international writer opens the new season with a unique reflection on literature and society.
For this special first time, we asked Ilya Troyanov, a Bulgarian-German author who conveys an intriguing text on the age-old power of migration. Troyanov fled with his family to Germany via Yugoslavia and Italy, where he received political asylum. He is a traveller between worlds, cultures and religions, and the author of the successful novel 'The Collector of Worlds'.
