Literary encounter
Faraj Bayrakhdar (Syria/at present living in Stockholm)
introduced by Stefan Weidner, literary translator, Cologne
Many authors fear for their lives at home in their own countries and are unable to publish without restriction. Many are forced to go abroad, where they are often seen as persecuted and their work reduced to that particular aspect. After a long period of imprisonment, Faraj Bayrakdar was able to leave his country. What is the outlook now for his poetry, whilst he has to live in a foreign country?
Venue: International Centre, Hall 5.0, D 901 Frankfurt Book Fair
Cooperation: ICORN/Shahrazad, stories for life
