So far - so good!

After summing up the first one and a half years of Shahrazad - stories for life, we have found that the six partner organisations have organized more than 250 activities and events throughout Europe, with the number of participants and audience reaching more than 22,000 persons.

New, original and challenging stories from all over the word have been brought into Europe by writers participating, directly or indirectly, in this large number of events and activities. Activities have ranged from small readings with one or two poets to the Constitution in Verse event with 24 poets on stage together with musicians and a large choir. These literary events have included and engaged many writers that are oersecuted and silenced in their home countries. The event have also served as places for writers to meet and network. Some have been one-off  events, while others have been part of a larger series like the Hakawathi and Mem Û Zîn tours.

The picture above shows Irakli Kakabadze teaching an art/writing workshop in a Stavanger high school, an example of the many programs that have been organized for young people. Other such events have been the "Me and my frontier(s)"-workshops in Frankfurt, and digital storytelling workshops in several partner cities.

Throughout all these activities, the writers from different parts of the world have ensured and inspired intercultural dialogue. This first period of Shahrazad - stories to life has been very rewarding for the partner cities, and we are all looking forward to the rest of the project period.
