Shahrazad - Stories for life

The European Constitution in Verse, written by over fifty European and non-European poets and coordinated by the Brussels Poetry Collective, has been nominated for the 3rd Europe Book Prize!

The prize will be awarded on 9 December 2009 at Théâtre Varia in Brussels.The evening is organised by Andrzej Żuławski, chairman of the jury, and will be hosted by Jacques Delors. Several poets from The Brussels Collective will be reading their texts. The Brussels choir, PolyFolies, will be singing an alternative European Hymn.

On December 8, Lucas Catherine will be discussing his book Rijstpap, Tulpen en Jihad (Pudding, Tulips and Jihad) at Passa Porta house of literature. Rijstpap, Tulpen en Jihad is a vibrant book about the Arab and Turkish influence on the European history.

Lucas Catherine is a Belgian writer, and a specialist on the Arabic region. He has written several books about his journeys to Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Syria.

On December 19, Dejan Anastasijevic hosted a successful second edition of ‘The Balkans and Europe'. Guest speakers were the prize winning, Serbian author Vladimir Arsenijević and the internationally acclaimed ‘post-Yugoslav' writer, Dubravka Ugresic. The debate took place at the Passa Porta house of literature in Brussels.
